Pellet treatment details
When you arrive for your hormone replacement therapy appointment, we will begin by preparing you for the pellet insertion. Typically, the pellet is implanted in the hip or buttock area. The procedure starts with sterilizing the skin, followed by numbing the area with a local anesthetic. Once the area is fully numb, the pellet is inserted into the tissue using a small device that creates a track under the skin. The average pellet contains a 100-milligram dose. After insertion, the puncture site will be covered with tape, gauze, and possibly an ice pack to minimize any swelling or bruising.
